The beaches

COMMON

COMMOS beach is located north of MATALA. It can be reached via the path straight over THE SECRET GARDEN just over the mountain towards PITSIDIA.

In the taverns BUNGA-BUNGA and COMOS-Taverna you can drink coffee and enjoy local dishes. There are 2 zones with beach chairs. In high season there is sometimes a lifeguard present. There is a tolerated nudist zone. and an archaeological site that can not always be visited. You have a beautiful view of the MESSARA bay from the restaurants VRACHOS and MISTICAL VIEW

OPEN

From ZERO to 366. This is the total number of sun loungers and parasols that were planted on the beach in 2022. Although, it does not lose its charm. With a view of the island of PAXIMEDIA, the sunset is a fantastic spectacle. Every evening you will find admirers there.

Via the beach you can reach the world famous hippy caves. On the beach itself you will find some idyllic restaurants where it is wonderful to stay. There is parking on the beach and at the camping.

RED-BEACH

The nudist beach south of Matala is well known, especially in the German community where it is included in their nudist guide. Bathing suits are of course allowed. There are currently 2 places where you can have a drink. There are no toilets. Access is a mandatory walk of about half an hour. Good footwear is recommended. Smearing yourself with the red sand is said to be healing.

JANNIS is undeniably connected to RED-BEACH. Don't stop to think that he has single-handedly carried everything he has set up over the mountain. He does this every day for the supply of water, ice, soft drinks, coffee and of course his MOJITO. Highly recommended and

SIMPLY THE BEST as it turns out.

EARRINGS

Vathi Beach is located a few kilometers south of matala. It is of course accessible by boat but also via a narrow dirt road towards Kalo Limenes. This summer we will make new images. For now we will do with a video from You-Tube

KALAMAKI

A beach that is very suitable for children and where you can sunbathe in the beach chairs. Most of them are from local restaurateurs and you can use them if you consume something. We will keep ourselves busy this summer with making some nice photo material but for now we will stick to the video in which this Greek tourist can explain like no other where and what KALAMAKI is.
